The fading art of the Physical Exam (share with your doctor, reduce radiation exposure)

Dr. Weeks’ Comment:  I trained at Harvard’s Massachusetts General Hospital (MGH) doing research in mineral metabolism and vitamin D metabolism and  then at University of Vermont College of Medicine  where we were extremely fortunate to have wise, old-time country docs teaching us physical examination skills.  George Wolf, Alan Tisdale, Larry Weed – these gentlemen were giants in their fields and I count my blessing for their tutelage every time I examine a patient.  Now a Stanford professor,  Dr. Abraham  Verghese   originally from a low tech province in Africa is reviving the art of the physical exam.   See this link http://stanford25.wordpress.com/ and read or watch videos to brush up on your examination skills!
