Longfellow on Love

Dr. Weeks’ Comment:  Friday is the day of Venus – so here are some thoughts on love.

If spring came but once in a century, instead of once a year,

or burst forth with the sound of an earthquake, and not in

silence, what wonder and expectation there would be in all

hearts to behold the miraculous change!

For after all, the best thing one can do when it is raining

is let it rain.

To charm, to strengthen, and to teach: these are the three

great chords of might.

Unasked, Unsought, Love gives itself but is not bought.
