Dr. Weeks’ Comment: Bad news for Big Pharma’s bottom line
-
Rx TO OTC SWITCH
Editorial note:
The public should know that the probably the best “drug” to control high cholesterol is Niacin (as long as tachyphalaxis to the flushing is achieved). The dose of 1,000 mg, 2x/day is quite effective and the cost is [...]

Dr. Weeks’ Comment: Cholesterol is not a simple matter. The bad stuff is called “bad” simply because it shuttles from liver to the veins/arteries and the good stuff is called “good” simply because it shuttles things from arteries/veins to the liver. Such simple reasoning is irresponsible but contributes to a multi-billion dollar business – cholesterol [...]

Dr. Weeks Comment: No news here. My friend and mentor, the late and great Abram Hoffer demonstrated this important attribute of niacin (vitamin B3) in the early 1960’s. His work was ignored because, well, because no money can be made from the selling of a naturally occurring supplement, whereas billions can be “earned” [...]

Cholesterol is not the major culprit in heart disease or any disease. If it becomes oxidized it can irritate/inflame tissues in which it is lodged in, such as the endothelium (lining of the arteries). This would be one of numerous causes of chronic inflammation that can injure [...]

Dr. Weeks Comment: In 1989 the patent (see below) was filed which demonstrated the importance of never prescribing a statin drug without also prescribing Co Q 10. So, tell me, why didn’t your your doctor tell you to take Co Q 10 when he or she was handing out statin drugs like candy?
“ 1. [...]

Dr. Weeks’ Comment: Watch out America. The FDA is about to take away your niacin. This vitamin B3, famous for its “flush” was championed by Dr. Abram Hoffer, M.D. Ph.D. 1917-2009 in the treatment of people suffering with hallucinations and delusions (adrenochrome toxicity treated with niacin) and also in the treatment of vascular diseases (heart [...]

Dr. Weeks’ Comment: Choose your experts carefully. Run from those who see things as good or bad. Cholesterol came to national, worldwide attention solely because Big Pharma could make billions of dollars selling drugs to lower it. However, that was only possible after doctors were taught to teach you, in turn, that cholesterol was “bad”. [...]
