All from John Lennon, (9 October 1940 – 8 December 1980)
John Winston Lennon was born to a troubled working-class family at Liverpool, England on this day in 1940. At seventeen his mother gave him a guitar so he started a “skiffle” band. Then Paul McCartney joined, and later George Harrison, and they became the Beatles. Then Ringo became the drummer, and from 1963 to 1970 they were everywhere. The band broke up and each went their own way, which for John and his wife Yoko, this meant several years out of the spotlight. And just as Lennon was coming back to music, he was shot in the entry of his apartment building.
