China rejects USA’s GMO foods.

DR. WEEKS’ COMMENT:  Shame on Monsanto and all the GMO companies and shame on our government (agencies of the corporations!) for trying to pollute the world.

China Rejects Genetically Modified Rice in Opposition to GMO Crops
Andre Evans

February 2, 2012

As awareness of genetically modified food and the dangers associated increase, actions are being taken to eliminate the issue entirely.
With countries destroying their GMO crops, scientists showing the facts, and individuals voicing their discontent on the matter, there is a large and growing contingent across countries that are taking action to preserve the integrity of our food supply.
China is the latest nation to take a stand against GMO crops.
China recently suspended the distribution of genetically modified rice within its commercial food supplies.

Rice, being perhaps the most common and prominently used food within Chinese diet makes its safety and reliability very significant. Acting as a staple food for over 1.3 billion Chinese people, any compromise to the integrity of their food supply should be accordingly assessed and acted against based upon the interests of the population.

This action helps to preserve the sovereignty and safety of their food supply, something that largely must still be addressed in our own country. In the United States GMO foods are not only accepted by loose regulation standards, but are not even labeled appropriately.
The dangers of GMO foods are so great that they are still not ”” and may never be ”” fully assessable. With a large number of documented negative effects on its consumers, GMO foods are a highly dangerous threat to individual health alone.

If this weren’t enough, genetically engineered crops actually threaten the integrity of the food supply altogether by devastating the environment with powerful superweeds and mutant bugs. The nature of genetic engineering is so volatile that unless properly handled, the integrity of the entire world food supply could be ruined.

As such, any form of action that a government takes to prevent or eliminate GMOs from the equation is significant. Reassessing the nature and scale of the threat in light of new evidence should compel even more action in even more locations around the world.

Comment  from my friend, Garry Gordon:
Health expenses threaten our country’s very existence, yet not one of the presidential candidates would dare bite the hand of Monsanto that feeds them. Everyone in the world is aware now of the dangers of GMO foods to the point that China rejects GMO foods. Yet Americans are not allowed to know which foods they are consuming are GMO and which are GMO free. That tells you that we have the best government that money can buy. We are now all fighting leaky gut and the GMO foods give us Bt, Bacillus Theringensis, the pesticide that tears the guts of insects killing them.

We have leaky guts in our population and we know death starts in the colon and intestine but no one dares tell the truth as they are all on the take. We believe we have freedom of speech yet our food suppliers face huge fines if they mention that their food is GMO free,  as Monsanto knows we would all buy only GMO free if the labels told us, which had GMO inside.

Now Obama is putting the hen house under the fox.  FDA Could become far worse than we deal with today with Michael Taylor having any say whatsoever as an advisor to FDA.  Please sign the petition, as we cannot have Monsanto thinking influence advising FDA!

Dear MoveOn member,
President Obama appointed former Monsanto vice president and lobbyist Michael Taylor as senior advisor to the Food and Drug Administration commissioner.
This is a classic example of the fox guarding the henhouse.
President Obama should isolate the FDA from corporate influence by asking Taylor to step down immediately.
That’s why I created a petition to President Obama on SignOn.org.

The petition says:
President Obama, I oppose your appointment of Michael Taylor, a former VP and lobbyist for Monsanto, the widely criticized genetically modified (GM) food multinational, as senior advisor to the commissioner at the FDA. Taylor is the same person who as a high ranking official at the FDA in the 1990s promoted allowing genetically modified organisms into the U.S. food supply without undergoing a single test to determine their safety or risks. This is a travesty.

Taylor was in charge of policy for Monsanto’s now-discredited GM bovine growth hormone (rBGH), which is opposed by many medical and hospital organizations. It was Michael Taylor who pursued a policy that milk from rBGH-treated cows should not be labeled with disclosures. Michael Taylor and Monsanto do not belong in our government.
President Obama, Monsanto has been seen as a foe to family-based agriculture, the backbone of America, by introducing dangerous changes to plants and animals and by using strong-arm legal tactics against farmers for decades. Naturally occurring plant and animal species are permanently threatened by the introduction of DNA and hormonal modification, Monsanto’s core businesses.

FDA scientists once regarded genetic modification of the food supply as the single most radical and potentially dangerous threat to public health in history. As early as the 1991, a body of scientific research began to form which now includes articles in over 600 journals. As a whole, these offer scientific evidence that GM foods, hormones, and related pesticides are the root cause for the increase of many serious diseases in the U.S. Since GM foods were introduced, diagnosis of multiple chronic illnesses in the U.S. has skyrocketed. These illnesses include changes in major organs and in hormonal, immune, digestive, and reproductive systems. These modifications to foods and food production may also be contributors to colon, breast, lymphatic, and prostate cancers.

Experts are discouraged that regulators and GM companies systematically overlook potential side effects of GM. Monsanto’s objective to use biotechnology to change the world’s food supply is the opposite policy direction your administration should pursue. Your legacy of supporting Monsanto to have free rein in U.S. food policy is a nightmare scenario that is against the interest of all Americans and world citizens.
